Dedicated to the Advancement of Authentic Martial Arts and Effective Self-Defense

Gung Fu (功夫), also seen spelled Kung-Fu and Gongfu translates to "time and energy" or "well practiced". It is an ancient program through which humankind realizes its full potential through better understanding, learning to set higher limits and standards, transcending rigid and false values and achieving harmony with the laws of nature and the universe. Kung-Fu is training with a useful purpose, and leads to the learning of refined skills which will remain with the student for a lifetime.

Wu Gung (武功) means "warrior skills". The spirit of a warrior (i.e. determination, perseverance, overcoming hardship, etc..) is developed through the practice of these warrior skills in Shaolin. The Wu Gung training curriculum consists of martial art applications that flow together and support one another very well. The intent is to cultivate the mind and fortify the body to respond calmly and intelligently in combat and to life's challenges. We offer both "external" and "internal" approaches. External or hard training develops muscular and skeletal coordination, structure, flexibility, strength, balance, speed and accuracy. Internal or soft training develops mental focus, intent, inner calmness, sensitivity, self-control, Chi (Qi) quality, and important mind-body connectivity. Martial arts can provide a fitness workout like no other. Learn in a structured and controlled way, under professional instruction.

Wu Gung Curriculum

Southern Fist Wing Chun Kuen Gung Fu

It's translation means Practice of the Fist of Beautiful Spring. Literally "Beautiful Spring Boxing Skill," Shaolin in origin. Originating in mainland Southern China at a time of turmoil in the early Qing dynasty it was brought to Hong Kong by Grandmaster Yip Kai Man in the 1940's, where it remains the most widely practiced martial art. One of his students, Lee Jun Fan, more famously known as Bruce Lee was the first to teach the art to non-asians. Other students of Yip Kai Man's migrated to America and other parts of the world, and so the system flourished.

Known for economy of movement and very quick, deceptively powerful hands, Wing Chun offers extremely efficient ways of dispatching an adversary. The dedicated student can expect measurable success in a relatively short time of practicing the system's principles.

Wing Chun is considered a system of intelligent combative methods rather than a style. It is a very well conceived program that uses natural movement, skeletal mechanics and sensitivity to adapt to and overcome the opponent. The teaching approach takes in to consideration the physical and mental idiosyncrasies of the trainee. The purpose is that after learning the proven principles of the system it becomes an art that you can express as you would any other form of art. Your Wing Chun becomes an intuitive extension of your mind and body.

Chin Na (Qin Na)

No Gung Fu curriculum is complete without time devoted to Chin Na also known as Kum Na in Cantonese which translates to "seize and control". It is an art of controlling with the painful application of joint locks, throws and takedowns. This system predates Jiu Jitsu and Aikido. it is integrated into most Chinese martial arts, and is sometimes taught as a stand alone module. Sifu Lott teaches it along with Wing Chun, because it adds options withen the close combat range that Wing Chun is famous for. Most police in Taiwan and Hong Kong are taught Chin Na.

PRADEF™ Self-Defense

By virtue of his innate ability, training and experience, David Lott developed and teaches a fighting system named PRADEF™. A contraction of the words practical and defense. As the name implies, it is a system that uses what works in real world situations. It is designed for those seeking an effective nonclassical yet complete self-defense method. It includes empty hand and personal weapons training. Participants learn to Evade, Defend and Escape with confidence.
